From Coaching to Facilitation: A Personal Journey of Discovery

In this episode, I share a conversation with my parents and fiancé that led to new and profound insights about communication and personal growth.

What started as my dad “putting on his facilitator had” turned into a powerful moment of vulnerability when he saw I was operating in ambivalence and asked if I was afraid. Through tears and honesty I discovered something unexpected- the word “facilitate” deeply resonated with me.

This sparked a etymological exploration with my fiancé, where we uncovered that “facilitate” stems from the Latin word “facilis,” meaning “to make easy.” In contrast to coaching which take a more directive approach.

As a self-proclaimed word nerd, this discovery reinforced my belief that our words literally create our worlds.

The episode explores how this linguistic revelation mirrors my personal journey from seeking direction to embracing facilitation as a gentler, more empowering approach to growth and transformation. This intimate story examines how the words we chose shape not only our communication but our entire worldview and relationships.
